This work portrays memories centered around old-school items, tapping into the concept known in psychology as the 'Inner child,' referring to the part of us that retains experiences, emotions, and memories from childhood. Caring for our inner child is vital for maintaining adult mental health, considering everyone holds personal memorabilia with familial and emotional significance. By connecting with these childhood mementos or objects, which hold the energy of memories and time, we can revisit our childhood experiences. Nurturing our inner child through nostalgia or recalling the expansiveness of childhood imagination can train creativity in our present lives. This creativity can then enrich our work, hobbies, and everyday experiences.
Since elementary school, Hendra has often created memes, comics, or deformed images from newspaper clippings. Living in a house attached to a workshop, Hendra often observes various shapes of iron or plates, where he becomes interested in pieces or spare parts. Hendra hones his imagination through these objects, cartoon shows, or MTV music video clips. These aspects influence Hendra in generating and developing ideas for his work.
